We build relationships.

The CanTeen partners with several organizations to help teens make good choices about drugs, alcohol and relationships. We also invite guests to speak about teen-specific issues like planning for college or resume building. Other programs cast law enforcement in a positive light or enlighten our participants on a variety of contemporary topics.

We work to connect teens with community organizations where they can help make a difference as volunteers. Our participants stay very active through a variety of service initiatives that make a difference in the many communities we serve.

We Encourage Exploration

Field trips are another core activity of The CanTeen. We invite participants to explore New York and beyond with days at many places near and far for little or no cost. Our popular summer series of trips include everything from a day at the beach to whitewater rafting and educational excursions through museums and even underground caves.

In addition to education and recreation, teens can also connect with mentors for guidance on anything from personal problems to school work. Our staff and volunteers are dedicated to the emotional and educational needs of participants. We strive to create a safe place where they can feel free to discuss whatever is on their mind.

This all works in concert to create an experience as eclectic as our participants, who come from all different backgrounds.
